In case it is recognized by Device Manager in some way, you can Uninstall it -> Unplug it -> reboot system -> plug it back in and wait to automatically reinstall That's my recommendation, as it certainly worked for me, and I already tried two different adapters that used the NEC chipset. The NEC drivers just don't work reliably on Windows 7. The drive is not recognized when connected to any USB 3.0 port, But will work on usb 2.0 port.. Believe me, I tried it all already. The led light is on but not blinking on usb 3.

It could be the port, the cable, settings in the BIOS, driver issues (not installed, corrupt, incorrect driver settings).

If this is the case, there is a possibility that there is something wrong with the device(rather than drivers).You can try using a different USB cable.
